It is also important to understand the odds of forming a particular poker hand. This is done by knowing the probability of each card, and then multiplying that number by the total number of cards in a deck to find the odds of forming that hand. For example, a player must know that there are 13 spades in a deck of 52 cards to understand the odds of getting a spade as the third card of their poker hand.
The final stage of a poker round is the showdown, in which each remaining player shows his or her cards face up on the table. The player with the best poker hand wins the pot, which is all of the chips that have been bet so far. If no player has a winning hand, the game ends in a draw. Occasionally, there will be a tie for the best poker hand, in which case the pot is divided among those players.
